After a long day of school, going to Luv Ur Skin meetings and mountains of homework, doing my nighttime skincare routine is the last thing on my mind, because all I want to do is crawl into bed! I have learned that washing your face at the end of the day is just as important as washing your face at the start of the day. Dirt and oils accumulate on the skin throughout the day so it’s crucial to cleanse your skin before you go to bed.
It took me a while to get into a regular routine, but now it has become a habit and my skin is thanking me! With these simple and easy tips that I’ve learned, your night time skincare routine will be a breeze.
Remove All Makeup... If you wear makeup, take the time at night to properly remove it before going to bed. The benefits of removing your makeup far outweigh an extra five minutes of sleep. Sleeping with makeup on can cause clogged pores, breakouts and skin and eye irritations.
Use A Gentle Cleanser... While it may be tempting to use the same bar of soap you use to wash your body, it can be very damaging to use on your face, causing it to become dry and irritated. My LUS ‘Face Wash’ not only removes makeup, dirt and grime, it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean because it doesn’t strip it of its natural oils and is pH balanced so you don’t need a toner to balance your skin.
Always Moisturise... There is a huge misconception that using moisturizer will clog your pores and cause your skin to break out, however moisturizing is incredibly important no matter what skin type you have. I love using the LUS ‘Face Moisturiser’, which is lightweight, absorbs quickly and suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin, and leaves my skin feeling nourished and incredibly smooth.
Don’t Forget Your Lips... Keep your lips soft by applying a moisturizing lip balm that will keep your lips hydrated while you get your beauty rest. I always keep my ‘Berrilicious’ Lip Balm on my nightstand, which not only smells amazing, but also keeps them nourished and protected.
Earlier Rather Than Never... If after this you’re still struggling to find the motivation, then take a note from my book and perform your night time skincare routine as soon as you get home. Rather than waiting until bedtime, cleanse and moisturize your face earlier so you do not have to think about it, once you get into bed. That way, your skin will continue to look fresh and glowing!
